Unsurprisingly Father’s Day is one of the busiest days at Red Gum BBQ. We started to receive phone calls about 3 months ago with folks trying to get a spot. Melzie in the office has been stuck to the phone ever since taking calls and booking in families to celebrate this day with dad. The whole restaurant is gearing up, 300kg of Brisket has been ordered this week, rosters have been written and the plan has been hatched to make sure this day goes off. What’s great is that the team is ready to rock and roll to nail it on Sunday and my mind is at ease.
I really shouldn’t be surprised that Father’s day is one of the biggest days of the year at Red Gum BBQ. The space is built for family occasions. Long bench seating for the whole family to gather around, share platters to fight over, a real communal experience. Also, not to sound clichéd but men often love eating meat and I have that covered. So, if you have missed out on grabbing a spot and now are totally devastated that your Dad is not going to get their BBQ fix you can always order a BBQ picnic lunch and head to a local park or rock it from the comfort of your own home.

The other aspect of Father’s day that is great for Dad, is the gifts. If your Dad is like me and never buys anything for himself and looks like a bit of a hobo, well it is time to hook a brother up. If you want your dad to look a real pitboss you can deck him out in some fresh Red Gum BBQ threads. I know what you are thinking, your Dad can’t eat clothes, and what he really wants is a 3 pack of sauce so that he can cook some killer BBQ at home. Your dad can’t cook? Got you covered, enrol him in a class and let’s get him cooking like a real Pitmaster.
Father’s Day is a day to show Dad that you care, and nothing shows you care like the gift of meat and merch. But on a serious note regardless if you are spending your day with us or somewhere else make sure that you give dad a cuddle and spoil him rotten, he deserves it.
